Miscellany Monday #15 - Summer is off to a busy start!

Yes I know it's Tuesday.  But really it's just case and point to my post.  July is too fun to stop and blog! Every July I get caught up in working really hard and playing even harder.  I've contemplated taking formal breaks from blogging in July and I think this year I am actually going to do it!   Here's what is keeping us busy the next few weeks -- Evie has been non-stop learning and growing.  It's so beautiful to watch her take interest in new things, mimic us, and parrot every little word back to us. I can't believe she'll be 20 months later this week! The weather has been electric - as in a lot of thunder and lightening, so my computer has remained off and unplugged.  I'm kind of enjoying the lack of distraction.  The daily rain storms have also kept the summer weather fairly mild (so far), so after dinner walks are a must. Nephew Zachary is in town for a long week to play and I want to soak up every ounce of play time ...

Miscellany Monday #14 - The Merry Merry Month of May

I can't believe it's June.  Let's talk for a moment.  May is always crazy. My family has coined the phrase "the merry merry month of May"  because in 1988 my grandmother turned 50, both my aunt and uncle graduated from college (in two different states), my aunt got married, and my mother gave birth to my sister.  This is in addition to things like, my pre-school graduation and Mother's Day. This year was the 25th anniversary of the original Merry Merry Month of May.  It did not disappoint. My grandmother turned 75, my sister turned 25, my aunt and uncle celebrated 25 years of marriage...in addition to our trip to NYC , a funeral Mass for our miscarried baby , two baby showers, the worst mother's day , a trip to the cabin and the advent of toddler tandrums.  I was supposed to have two weekends of graduation parties and an ordination Mass and party, but I skipped them. I just had to. In no particular order....our May (courtesy ...

Miscellany Monday #13: Valentine's, Eric, Coffee, Lent, Toddler and ME!

I love a good Miscellany Monday to catch up on all the random happenings around our house, so here are a few things that aren't full-post worthy but are fun to note or remember. Linking up with Carissa over at lowercase letters Valentine's Day, yes valentine's day. Eric and I exchanged a fancy meal at home. We bought grass fed filet mignon, a bottle of wine, and made some green beans tossed in chopped toasted roasted almonds. It was pretty much heaven on earth.  As per our tradition, we eat by candle light on a table cloth and china.  I love having a romantic night in with my love. Turn your head to the left. This was my heart-shaped breakfast from Eric. He's the most cheesy romantic and I LOVE IT!!!  Evie's little Valentine's from Mom and Dad :)  Eric's gift from me.  Note: I am equally cheesy. ********** Moving on.... Evie dropped my camera a while back.  There was minimal damage done to the body, thank God, but the ...

Miscellany Monday #12

I love linking up for Miscellany Monday.  I get to write about all sorts of things that are too short for an entire post.  Here are some fun things going on at the Buergler Haus, courtesy of my unedited phone photos. Eric and I have each started going to spiritual direction with the parochial vicar at our parish.  It's been a challenge for me to get in a new prayer routine.  But I am enjoying it so far.  Same for Eric. Evie started walking about three weeks ago. Life in our house has changed. It's so much easier to do things with her now, but there is no such thing as sacred space anymore. She follows me everywhere and is into everything .  I felt like there was a lull during the crawling phase where she wasn't changing a whole lot, but now that she's walking I see so many changes. And her language skills are exploding! Eric and I have gone off the rails on the crazy train. Okay, we've been on it for a while. We've been slowl...

Miscellany Monday {11}

So, Hi. It's been a while. Like two weeks I think? I had debated about purposefully take the month of July off from blogging to I could enjoy my last month of "freedom" before my hectic Fall begins, but then thought I'd miss it too much. Yet, I have still only blogged once. In a sense, I have a lot going on.   I have a needy child right now.  She's going through an intense growth spurt, trying to crawl, and almost teething.  She needs a lot from me and I am glad I can give it to her without the stress from work. My husband's company has been on the rocks - again - and it's created a little underlying worry for him.  We will make it through, but he's been daydreaming and it's forced us to have a lot of money conversations lately. Then there is me.  I don't know what's going on with me.  I had lost 41 of the 45 pounds I gained with Evie.  Everyone swore once I went off Zoloft and stopped nursing I'd drop the last few pounds ...

Miscellany Monday {10}

We are blessed with an awesome infant, but afternoon naps have become the bane of my existence.  And because no one is around to experience it, no one believes me that our sweet little angel can be such a devil for 2 or 3 hours a day. Evie, Eric and I LOVE to Facetime with my brother, his wife, and their son, Zachary.  We shared lots of "dinners" together this week.  David and I don't even talk on the phone anymore, we just Facetime and chase babies around the house. My siblings and I are going to visit my grandparents for a long weekend this coming weekend.  My parents are still on vacation, so it will be just the four of us, plus spouses and kids.  I am really looking forward to this.  Some one please remind me to take the video camera. We bought raw milk this weekend.  I know there is a lot of debate out there about it, but after years of thinking about it, Eric and I finally found a source at our regular farmers market. ...
