2015: Stop. Wait a minute. Fill my cup put some liquor in it.

This year lacked an abundance of major milestones, however it was filled with a wholelotta crazy that made for many afternoons having kitchen dance parties to Uptown Funk leaving this Mama ready for Happy Hour the second Daddy came home from work. So here's to 2015, I hope your cup is as full (of liquor) as ours! January -  With the school year in full swing, we enjoyed much of our daily routine of Evie going to Young 3s, 3 days a week.  Maggie and Elizabeth spent 2 mornings a week working at The Natural Baby.  Elizabeth started taking classes at Pure Barre. Eric went on the January retreat with Saint Brigid Life Teen and started as a full-time employee for NCR. February -  Eric and Evie went to their annual Chick-fil-a Daddy-Daughter Date Night. Elizabeth, Evie and Maggie drove to Savannah to meet new baby cousin Ellie and to celebrate Valentine's Day.  We had a snow day or two. Elizabeth went on a Lent retreat. March -  Photography season b...

Our Last Trip to Beaufort

We have loved going once or twice a year to visit Eric's great aunt Jo in Beaufort, SC.  Since her husband passed she has decided to move back up north to be near her children. We're sad that she's moving but glad she'll be closer to family.  Grandma and G.Daddy rented a house for the family for the weekend. Seriously, VRBO is my new favorite way to travel with kids. I love that we have a kitchen and can make our own breakfast since we're a bacon and eggs kind of family. Our first morning started with with quite an adventure. I am used to cooking with cooper core stainless pans and found myself cooking on a paper thin pan that burned everything to a crisp in seconds. Well, I set off the smoke alarm. It was some fancy computerized system and the home owners didn't leave us the password to override the smoke alarm. The first department showed up.  Oooops!  The weekend was kind of pooky as it rained off and on.  We still managed to go downtown to p...

Labor Day Weekend in Beaufort

Our family was long over due for a trip to The Low Country.  We'd spent several months trying to find a weekend when the Buergler clan could travel together to Beaufort, SC to visit Aunt Jo.  Eric's Great Aunt Jo was/is his grandmother's sister.  Eric's grandparents passed years ago, so his Great Aunt and Uncle more or less stepped into that role.   Eric's uncle, Jim, had passed away since we had last visited.  Aunt Jo was recovering from neck surgery and heart valve replacement surgery. We weren't quite sure what to expect out of the visit, but as always it was a great trip.   The crew agreed to head South over Labor Day weekend.  Eric took Friday off so we hit the road after Maggie's mid morning feeding.  We had a million taco fixings left over from dinner the night before, so I made a stack of quesadillas to eat for a lunch picnic on our road trip. Quite possibly my most brilliant parenting moment to date.  We loaded up the CR-...

Easter Weekend - Beaufort

First of all, thanks for enduring the overzealous high chair post .  And my week long sabbatical between Easter weekend posts . Picking up where we left off.  Holy Saturday morning we finished at the Savannah Farmers market and armed with a really good cup of locally roasted coffee, we crossed the bridge from Savannah into South Carolina.  The whole drive is like the scenery of Dawson's Creek. We arrived to Aunt Jo and Uncle Jim's just in time for lunch. We took a long walk into town and ate at a water front restaurant. After lunch we walked through town. The boys took Evie to the park, then back to the house while the ladies shopped. Beaufort has such fun little shops!  It's like Highlands, NC where our cabin is, but on the water. I was very much looking forward to the evening of a Low Country Boil or as they call it there, Frogmore Stew and a card game challenge, but Miss Evie had had her fill of fun and desperately need...

A Day in Beaufort

Everyone needs a little no-reason getaway, right?  Eric and I have been trying to get down to the Low Country for quite some time to visit family.  A visit that was just for fun - no holidays, no parties, no agenda. After a 4+ hour, uneventful road trip from Atlanta to Savannah on Thursday, our little family settled into the guest room at my brother, David and his wife, Pagie's house.  Evie was up screaming for over three solid hours.  Of course, the moment she finally fell asleep my nephew Zachary woke up screaming.  No rest for the weary. Little did we know, this was the start of viruses attacking both of them. Friday morning Eric and I waaaaay overslept, but still made it up to Beaufort, South Carolina in time for lunch.  It's about a little over an hour north of Savannah, halfway between Savannah and Charleston, right on the Intercoastal.  Some of the scenes from Forrest Gump were filmed there.  Cool, huh? We arrived at Eric'...

Beaufort, South Carolina

Pardon the total slacking on blogging.  I haven't kept up my promise to blog ever Tuesday for about three weeks.  Life has been just a little crazy insane with work.  Fortunately, last week I took a few days off to spend with my grand parents in Highlands, NC, thus missing another Tuesday blog. Anyway, without further ado, here's a little catching up from three weeks ago: Eric's great aunt and uncle, who are basically "grandparents" to Eric and Leeann, have retired to a precious town in South Carolina.  We've visited them once a year since I've been "serious" with Eric.  And they come to Atlanta as often as they can.  It was great with the weddings last year to be able to spend so much time with them.  While we were there, Eric and I went on bike tour, and well as a family walking tour.  By tour I mean "hey, lets go for a walk".  Of course, we had to watch the ND game, since Uncle Jim is also an alum (but let's not talk about the r...
