Katie and Sam were back and forth about finding out the sex of the baby ahead of time or letting it be a surprise at birth.  We talked about the pros and cons of each and they decided to at least get the 12 week blood test done so they could look at the results later should they choose to. Katie and I had been looking at party themes for her baby showers and there were just so many fun ideas that they decided to have a gender reveal party to we could use another theme! Ha! Who doesn't love an excuse to party? If you've followed our blog for any amount of time you know that's what my family does best. Katie's guidelines for the party:  keep it simple, no meal, and a fun reveal that will photograph and video well (so no cake cutting, etc).  She had really wanted a Mexican themed baby shower, but I talked her into a Mexican themed gender reveal once I started putting a few ideas together. On Friday, the day before my sister's wedding, all the girls in the wedding party and any of the ladies related to the brides or groom joined together for a luncheon.  As usual my mother outdid herself. They even included a high chair at the head table for Evie! I love the coordinated presentation between the table setting and the gift wrap! My grandmother did all the flower arrangements. This tiny one is my favorite because it's in a teacup that belonged to my maternal grandfather's family and is an estimated 100 years old. Welcome to Katie and Sam's couple's wedding shower. As a groomsman and the matron of honor (ew) / best-ish friend of the groom and sister of the bride, Eric and I wanted to honor Sam and Katie with a couple's shower.  I knew Katie's girlfriends would love to throw girlie-girl showers for the ladies.  Since that's not my thing, and since Eric and I are both in the wedding party we decided a couple's shower for our families, family friends, and Sam's friends would be perfect. As little girls Katie and I's late grandfather used to sing "Some Enchanted Evening" to us at random whispered into our ears.  It's such a special memory of him that Katie and I share so I chose the theme to remember him.  With both families being Italian, an Italian menu was the perfect fit.
