{Father's Day Weekend} A Trio of Tributes - My Dad

Happy Father's Day, Dad! Last year I briefly mentioned that my Dad and I didn't always get along. Being similar in always having to be right, get the last word, and being overly critical --- yeah, my mom has to referee once in a while.  It mostly ends with, "Elizabeth, just let it go"  All that non-sense aside, my Dad and I enjoy several same interests and hobbies.  We love trading recipes or going to photography classes together. Most of all my Dad gave me my emotional and sensitive side.  And he's always stressed the importance of good relationships.  He's always talking great about my mom. Encouraging us to do our best; to follow our dreams and the money will come.  And not to worry about things beyond our control, but to have faith in God.  He builds up our entire family bond.  Most importantly, he loves us kids like crazy and has gone to great lengths to sacrifice in order to provide for us. Sam and Katie's Wedding: The Bridal Luncheon

On Friday, the day before my sister's wedding, all the girls in the wedding party and any of the ladies related to the brides or groom joined together for a luncheon.  As usual my mother outdid herself. They even included a high chair at the head table for Evie! I love the coordinated presentation between the table setting and the gift wrap! My grandmother did all the flower arrangements. This tiny one is my favorite because it's in a teacup that belonged to my maternal grandfather's family and is an estimated 100 years old. L-R  Kim, Keri, Katie, Nannie, Kelly, Lynn L-R aunt, aunt, sister, grandmother, mother, married-in aunt (I joked for years that my name should have been Kelizabeth)  Mommy and the Bride! The little flower card holders were my mother's father's mothers.  And the tiny silver spoon was my sister's -- from back when people bought your newborn a silver spoon as a gift. All the lovely ladie...

On blogging, friends, work, weddings and babies!

Gosh I've missed regular blogging...but I've been enjoying visiting with family and friends and preparing for some pretty incredible things. Last week I spent almost every evening interviewing potential future teen leaders for our Confirmation program and Life Teen program.  It is hands down  my favorite week each year.  Mandi and I get to spend 30 minutes getting to know and picking the brains of a high schooler.  This year we have over twenty applicants!  Needless to say I'm a bit exhausted after I get home from work. Evie and I have had some fun play dates with friends!  We were especially glad that Rebecca could bring Zoe and Evan for an impromptu visit last week! Over the weekend we traveled to Savannah, GA and to Beaufort, SC.  I can't to share all the photos and about our great weekend! Today I was able to spend some quality time with Mandi.  We went to buybuybaby to work on her baby registry.  It was SO fun talking ...

A sneak peek: Katie's Hair & Make-up

I took these photos on a whim a few weeks ago, edited them and forgot about them until just now when I was uploading to Lightroom. I was on my way from a family portrait photo shoot back to my parents to return my Dad's lens (while mine was in the shop) when my Mom called and said she was at the salon with my sister for her wedding hair and make-up trial run. Armed with my camera bag, I thought it would be great practice for me, but also great memories for Katie.  And on a practical note, a way for us to see how well her make up photographed.  So without revealing too much of the bride-to-be's look. Here are a few photographs from the day.  Just THREE weeks until the big day!  I can't wait to celebrate with you! {shoot! three weeks?  Guess I better write that Matron of Honor toast}

Last Fling Before the Ring! Girls' Weekend in Savannah!

This weekend I had the pleasure of honoring my sister, Katie, with a bachelorette weekend in Savannah.  Katie chose Savannah since she went to college nearby, it has great weather this time of year, and it's casual. Fourteen girls were able to make it from all over the country, and even Canada-eh?  I rented a house on one of the squares, which is the thing to do if you're ever in Savannah with a large group.  Since most of the houses have a 3 night minimum, a few of the girls took an extra day off work to take advantage of the required Thursday night stay. It's always risky getting away with 14 girls, but this was an exceptionally drama-free girl's weekend. Thank you, Jesus! Everyone arrived in stages on Friday, so we decided to have dinner at the house. Katie's sisters-in-law made a huge taco bar.  We spent the evening in our jammies playing games and drinking wine and sangria. Saturday morning was leisurely and very welcomed by the mommies in the group. ...

Katie and Sam's Enchanted Evening

Welcome to Katie and Sam's couple's wedding shower. As a groomsman and the matron of honor (ew) / best-ish friend of the groom and sister of the bride, Eric and I wanted to honor Sam and Katie with a couple's shower.  I knew Katie's girlfriends would love to throw girlie-girl showers for the ladies.  Since that's not my thing, and since Eric and I are both in the wedding party we decided a couple's shower for our families, family friends, and Sam's friends would be perfect. As little girls Katie and I's late grandfather used to sing "Some Enchanted Evening" to us at random whispered into our ears.  It's such a special memory of him that Katie and I share so I chose the theme to remember him.  With both families being Italian, an Italian menu was the perfect fit. As guests arrived they were instructed to fill out a "recipe card".  The directions said, "Leave Katie and Sam a recipe for an enchanted evening...
