Spring Break Bucket List - Mission: Complete

It's been two weeks since Spring Break. I think it took us that long to recover from the amount of fun we had in just 10 short days.  We checked everything off the bucket list and then some! Friday & Saturday - Kites and Trikes The girls enjoyed a few laps around the neighborhood on their new tandem tricycle that Maggie got for her birthday. (Thanks Grandma and G.Daddy for the awesome Craigslist find) Eric took the girls down to Leeann and Dan's neighborhood to take Luke over to the park to play. They also tried to fly kites.  Little success, but it satisfied Evie. We had fun over the weekend coloring eggs and celebrating Easter with family. Monday - Ice Skating Monday I took Evie to go ice skating. She was so excited and loved everything about the day.  She loved watching the kids skate. Evie even did fantastic getting her skates on and walking around the outside of the rink in her skates. However, the second her feet hit the ice, she p...

Easter Weekend 2015

It was so wonderful to be home with "big kids" for Easter this year. We've been on the road or had a newborn the last few years. We loved being able to do things at out house. Good Friday is tricky with little kids. The Seven Last Words of Christ is over their head, regular Stations of the Cross is long and again, a bit over their head, and Veneration of the Cross starts so late.  Eric and I decided on a low-key family day (he took the day off from work).  We went up to the Church together so Eric could take advantage of the extra priests for Confession and then as a family we prayed the Stations of the Cross. I found a children's version online that we prayed and talked through.  Evie really got into it. We prayed them once and she asked to do it two more times. By the third time she was able to tell "the story" as she called it all by herself. I loved that we did this at our home parish so she will remember them each week when we attend Mass. On Satur...

Easter Sunday 2014

Since Maggie's due date was April 16 (according to the midwife) and April 21 (according to my watch) I didn't make Easter plans.  I had no idea when Maggie would arrive, or if I'd be feeling up to doing anything. I bought Evie an Easter dress, and one for Maggie just incase.  I bought and arranged Easter baskets for both girls.  I'm glad I did! I didn't make it to Mass on Palm Sunday.  And had it not been Easter Sunday I probably would have skipped this Sunday too, but it's the most important liturgical celebration of the year and I didn't have enough reason to miss it. Some how our family of four was up, fed, showered, dressed, and out the door smack in the middle of the 15 minute departure window.  Gold star to us. We arrived at church just in time to catch our favorite priest outside.  He blessed Maggie and told us he was celebrating one of the auxiliary Masses in the chapel.  Score!  A chapel full of 150 people instead of the church ...
