I'll stop the world and melt with you* {Happy 30 to me}

According to Ask.com (It's the new dictionary),  The 30th birthday is special. You are now officially a mature and responsible adult who has the necessary wisdom to make important decisions in life. The 30th birthday heralds your adult status with measured indulgence.   This statement is exactly what I thought 30 to be like as I watched my friend's [much older] older siblings turned 30.  I thought they had the world figured out. Ha!  More like, at 30 I realize how little I know about the world.  I do feel like I have the "necessary wisdom to make important decisions in life"  which still, often results in a call to Mom and Dad.  Knowing when to call for help is wise , right? All sentiment aside, the actual turning of 30 was a grand celebration.  My husband and sister threw a small party for me.  They served all my favorite foods, including diet staple, grilled cheese. (HHhmmm maybe THIS is why I can't seem to lose that ...

A Very Hungry Caterpillar - Our Baby Shower!

My family might get a little carried away with theme parties, as evident with my Mom's 50th birthday Decades party   (please ignore the horrible photos)  and David & Pagie's Monkey Baby Shower .   It was no surprise that our baby shower would be equally decadent.  And it did not disappoint. In addition to my mom and sister's creative touch, my friend Rosemary joined in the planning and hosting.  My sister-in-law, Paige, and my brother's girlfriend, Bridget also gave a helping hand. Thank you, ladies! Rosemary's sister is a graphic designer.  She made the invitations, banner and other signage for the party.  She used the diaper bag we registered for as her inspiration.  Creative huh?  {via} PS: You can click on any of the photos and collages to make them larger... (Yes, we had the Notre Dame game on during the shower. Duh. And we won. Finally) Given the invitations, I had no idea what the theme of our shower...

A Thank you! And a weekend update...

Eric and I want to say thank you for all the sweet comments, congratulations, and well wishes.  We've certainly been blessed with encouragement the last few years. In case you missed our 4-day debt-free series, check out Elizabeth's Story Eric's Story Climbing Out We're Debt Free!  {give away} And our give away ends tonight at 11:59 so be sure to enter! We'd originally promised to use this weekend to provide tips and answer questions, but it's been absolutely beautiful here in Atlanta so we've stepped away from the computer for the weekend to enjoy it!  We'll have the remaining posts up starting Tuesday, as Monday is scheduled for a pregnancy update. Here's how we've enjoyed this lovely weekend.... Friday night we a church function until about 9 pm.  Then we met up with some friends to have a few drinks on the Taco Mac patio.  I was so glad the location we went to had the Abita Root Beer on tap, so I could add another credit to my...

Phone Photos: A Week In the Life

As we near the end of the first trimester, I am finally starting to feel more human and have more energy.  We've been (almost) back to our crazy busy social lives, with the exception that I turn into a pumpkin around 9 pm.  It's been nice to go out and see people instead of my three month routine of: work, nap, eat dinner, maybe go for a walk, go back to bed. We've been out and about - but unfortunately I've been out of the habit of carrying my camera around, so I have nothing but super horrible cell phone pictures (digression: my Droid X boasts an 8 megapixel camera. EIGHT! Yet, unless it's broad day light, the quality of the photo is about that of a flip phone... as you'll see) Thursday (4/28) , our friend Austin was in town from Charleston so we met up at a beer bar for drinks.   I found out that Austin is a loyal reader of our blog so I promised him this shout out & picture! Except, what's worse than my phone's inability to take quality pho...

That's like Fourth of July without apple pie, or Friday with no two pizzas.*

You know in college when you had those moments when it's a glorious sunny 72 degrees, you're in shorts and flip flops, Nalgene bottles tossed about the grass, and you and your besties are throwing the frisbee on the quad between class and then you pause and think "ah, college" and you feel like you belong in a brochure? Yesterday I had one of those moments, except instead of "college" I had the "I feel like I'm in an episode of Friends"  day; trade coffee shop for a beer bar in Atlanta. It was Rosemary's birthday. 72 degrees. Not a cloud in the sky. Literally, none.  I kept looking. We packed up quite the vegetarian, gluten free, and beer free spread (collectively we gave up a lot of weird things for Lent), chairs, bocce, bean bags, frisbees, and a cooler and headed to Piedmont Park, Atlanta's version of Central Park.  It was even landscaped by the two sons of Olmsted, who landscaped Central Park (read: History Minor).  It was a... ...
