The Lights Will Inspire You*

After a big trip to  Ireland  last year, Eric and I decided to take a smaller trip this year.  Our friend  Rosemary  is living in Manhattan these days and offered us her place for the weekend. Best friend meets tour guide plus free place to stay? Yes, please! (Thanks Connie and Pat for helping out too!) We'd had this trip planned since shortly after Christmas. It proved to be perfect timing, just a few days after  the miscarriage . It was nice to get away to something that was already planned, and that we were SO looking forward to. With a short 4 day trip, we decided to leave Evie at home with the grandparents. Neither of us had been to New York City and we wanted to maximize our time. The weather was absolutely PERFECT.  It was 65, sunny, with a light breeze.   Day 1 Landing a few minutes after 9am, we hit the ground running. Rosemary worked from home so she could help us navigate the city.  We grabbed bre...

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas...It's the Best Time of the Year!

Living in the same city as our families comes with many, many blessings.  And a lot of holiday get togethers.  With many of our friends slowly moving away from their families in Atlanta, the holidays are also a time to visit with friends who have returned "home" for the week. Having a new baby has gotten us out of a few holiday obligations, but they have been replaced with visiting lots of friends who are in town.  We can't forget all the regularly schedule family traditions. The excitement began two weeks ago when Joey and Crystal were in town for Joey's family's Christmas . They brought us breakfast and spent a few hours loving on Evie. (Photos courtesy of their blog) That night was the Gingerperson Party  and the rest of the week was quiet other than play dates and doctors appointments. Last weekend began the craziness that is th...

New Local Spots

Utilizing coupons from Living Social , Groupon  and Scout Mob   Eric and I, along with some friends, have been on a find-awesome-new places kick.  And of course, because we get half-off or more, it's been relatively affordable to enjoy all the sites (and bars) Atlanta has to offer. We found Ormsbys mostly via Twitter and other beer drinking friends.  This place has Southern Comfort food by some semi-well known chef, a well rounded draft menu, and then.... the atmostphere feels like you're in someone's basement or cabin.  Wooden tables for board games, shuffle board, darts, skee-ball, photo booth, karaoke, and two indoor faux grassed bocce courts.  We snagged a booth and played Jenga for a good two hours.  The Saturday night wait for bocce was a little long - hopefully we'll be back on an early week night to snag a court for a game or two.  Via a Living Social coupon, Rosemary and I snagged two buy $15 get $30 worth of food and drinks a...
