What goes around comes back around

It all started last week when my shipment of diapers from Kelly's Closet arrived.  I had coupons for two free diapers (yay!), so I tore the box open to see what brand my freebies were.  Boo!  They were both the same brand, and the same brand freebie I got last time!  Even though this particular brand gets rave reviews, it has too many parts for me.  Given my new found love for de-cluttering I knew these couldn't stay around. I had already mailed the first one off to Bethany , so I asked Twitter if anyone wanted these two freebies.  Within minutes Arwen wrote back saying how much she'd love them. The next day I went to the post office to mail them and then drove to play group.  As I walked into the house, the host mom was giving away several boxes of breast milk storage bags.  Being an exclusive pumper, I quickly jumped on the opportunity.  This made up for my disappointing free diapers. Earlier this week I was out walking with Mega...

A Burpee a Day...{Week 1}

One of the blogs Eric and I read regularly is called Paleo Plan.  The blog talks about eating Paleo and Primal, and has a lot of workout tips that use just your own body (ie running, yoga, etc). Starting with the New Year's Resolution crowd, the website has been offering a few different challenges to help people through the tricky parts of going Paleo.  The first one was 30 Days of strict, no-cheating Paleo.  One was a 30 day blood work improvement through the doctor's office.  One was a 30 Days no caffeine.  You get the idea. Well since we aren't back into the swing of meal planning yet, still paying off hospital bills, and having middle of the night baby feedings the strict Paleo, 30 day blood work, and 30 day no caffeine challenges aren't really in the stars for us. But when we saw the Burpee +1 challenge we decided that these post-partum couch potatoes could use a little work out motivation. The idea is that you start with one burpee, and then next...

Miscellany Monday {6}

1. Yesterday was Eric's BIL's actual birthday, but we celebrated my Mom's birthday, which is actually tomorrow.  Dan is the first of us to turn 30. Leeann and I follow this summer/fall. My mom, well, I won't reveal her age, but if you remember her milestone party last year , you can do the math.  Happy Birthday, Dan and Mom! 2. We went to a Super Bowl Party last night.  But let's be honest, professional football is not college football.  Professional football is so off my radar (because it's college basketball season, duh!) that I almost forgot it was time for the Big Game. Clearly, I wasn't at the party for the game, but for the food.  I love game watch food. Cheesy dips are my middle name. 3.  Speaking of food...I may eventually expand on this thought, but in the mean time, I would like to announce that my relationship with food has changed significantly in the last year, and is continuing to evolve.  It's no longer my life blood, one tru...

But wait, there is more!

I thought that Monday's Violent Vomiting Incident  was a fluke. Never to happen again. Wrong. Wednesday, after a morning full of errands and a playgroup that ran three hours instead of one, I rushed home to feed my screaming baby only to be puked on again.  Basically take Monday and hit replay. Thanks to my own dear Mother, and the lovely Mamas on Twitter, we determined I probably over fed Evie in both situations.  She is transitioning to eating more at each feeding and eating fewer times a day.  Unfortunately neither of us knows exactly what "more" means just yet. Anyway, so this morning's adventure is slightly less gross. My sweet, smiling child woke up from her morning nap around 10:30.  I picked her up and we headed to the living room where her bottle of fresh pumped milk was waiting for her. Guzzle, Guzzle, Guzzle.  Drank it up. This time, instead of her breakfast coming up and out.  It went down and out. All over my leg. Let's j...

Crunchy Mamas

I don't normally consider myself as being super crunchy, just mindful of little choices that can make a big difference. Then I watched this. And then I realized not only could I relate to about 80% of the things said in the video, but my cloth diapers were in the laundry, my grass fed beef from the farmers market was on the cast iron, I was feeding my baby breast milk from a glass bottle, and my husband was biking home from Whole Foods. Yep.  Guess I am a pretty crunchy Mama.

Could I *Be* Wearing Any More Clothes?

I should have known what my day was going to be like the second I woke up... Eric came in to our room lay Evie back down for her early morning nap and to kiss me good-bye, it was then that I realized my left breast had leaked significantly during the night.  It soaked through the nursing pad, my bra, and my shirt.  So I change my shirt and bra and immediately head to the living room to pump. I am sitting there pumping away, reading blogs and before my usual 15 minutes is up I feel a wet spot on my leg. In just a few short minutes the bottle over filled and was flowing out on to my pajama pants. Naturally, I changed my pants. I proceed about my morning, cleaning the kitchen and getting some chores done. Evie woke up and is ready for a bottle.  We snuggled in to eat and catch up on last night's television.  She was a little fussy, but not more so than she'd been the last few days with this growth spurt. She finished the bottle so I pick her up to burp her...

Miscellany Monday {5}

1. Eric and I had a good laugh over blogger friend Bethany's post about her husband and skinny jeans .  Eric and Bethany's husband would be two peas in a pod (if we all ever met!).  Engineers who hate well fitting skinny jeans, unite! 2. Evie was Baptized this weekend along side our nephew and now Godson, Zachary.  Post coming soon!  Eric and I were so filled with joy all day on Saturday.  We equated it with our wedding day, minus the nerves.  God is good! 3. You hear on sitcoms or in pop culture that marriage is the end of romance.  I disagree, the romance just has a different face.  Today, for instance, Eric emptied the dishwasher before he left for work.  He didn't have to (okay, maybe he did...it is his chore), but it was nice that it was done in the morning so I could fill it during the day instead of waiting to do all the dishes at night. 4. Evie and I had our first playgroup with a group of women and chi...
