The Buerglers

This last weekend I was supposed to go to Dayton, Ohio for my cousin 's graduation from my Alma Mater .  However, a little  miscommunication  on the weekend's details and before I knew it, airfare skyrocketed over $500 (pun intended).  I love my cousin, but we just can't swing a $500 plane ticket nor gas money for an 8 hour road trip. Thus, we found ourselves with a free weekend.  My parents decided to take my nephew up to my grandparents' cabin for the weekend and we agreed to tag along.  It was Evie's first trip to Highlands, North Carolina.  She's only six months old and quite a little traveler. She had fun playing in her Exersaucer, which we had to bring along. She loves that thing!  We even put it out on the deck while we sat by the fire.  She loved watching the embers glow. I have a good sleeper.  I really can't complain, but last week's schedule threw Evie's nap "schedule" off quite a bit.  My normally easy going baby was all out of sorts. On Thursday, I put her down for her afternoon nap in her usual swaddle (yes, my 6 month old still swaddles up for nap time), top blanket, and her Glow Worm snuggled in the bumper next to her so they doze off face to face. After about 20 minutes of Evie talking herself to sleep I heard her screaming so I went in to check on her and this is what I found.  And on Friday we had a repeat. What's weird about this, is even if she's playing on the floor for hours, she doesn't roll around this much. Crazy girl :) I took my parents' advice: Don't get mad, get the camera.  

Evie and I had the unique opportunity to participate in a simulation at the new Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport  Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal . Yes I listed it's full name because I think it's ridiculous. A friend posted about the opportunity to apply for the simulation on her Facebook.  Being that I am the kid who loves things like fire drills, flash mobs, and airports I thought I'd be the perfect candidate.  In reading the application, they needed participants from all over North Georgia, all levels of travel experience, a valid passport, and a free day.  They also needed people with special travel situations, like wheelchairs, oxygen, etc.  I noted that I had a 6 month old in a stroller.  It must have been a golden ticket because we were assigned to be passengers #18 & #19 out of 1500! I am loving how big my sweet baby girl is getting!  She is ready to take on Highlands, NC in her (new to us) back pack ! Baby Gap sales.  Yes, please!  Little Bit needed a few warm clothes for those cool summer nights up at the cabin.  She got this hoodie and pants for less than $20.  Her Braves shirt matches perfectly, too! Oh Glowy.   I am loving Glowly this week because she always soothes Evie to sleep. It's a nice piece of home to take on trips and have Evie be comforted at bed time.  Life. Saver. Eric's birthday was a few weeks ago.  We went to a Japanese restaurant.  They made him pose for a picture with this ridiculous umbrella and then 20 minutes later surprised him with a picture cake.  Bahaha. Who doesn't love Choco Tacos?  Found one at a gas station in Macon on our way back from Savannah.  Had to have one. The beautiful spring we've had here in Atlanta.  It's making me crave...

On our drive home from Savannah a few weeks ago I got a text message from Sam, my sister's boyfriend, and Eric's long time friend.  It's not unusual for Sam to text asking what we're up to for dinner, since we often do last minute things with them. I didn't think anything of it, and replied that we'd be driving in from Savannah but would love to have dinner or drinks with them.  No reply. An hour or two later Sam calls asking where exactly we were on our ride home.  We were still OTP on the south side.  Sam said it would be perfect timing because..... He was about to propose to my sister and wanted us to join them at his parent's house for drinks to celebrate!
