Engagement Day Anniversary! And some old school pictures.

Eric and I are celebrating three years since he proposed to me!   The story has two parts - the first part took place during our parish Advent mission.  It's the night that I truly surrendered my heart to God's will for my vocation.  And little did I know, Eric had bought my engagement ring.  God had been working in his heart for a whole month. The second part takes place about a week later when Eric surprised me during my Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration and proposed.  Read all about our giddiness here . In no particular order,  here are some of my favorite photos of us over the last five years: Okay, this one gets a comment...this was probably our 3rd date.  Don't you love my awful orange/red hair?  That was the dye job we learned that I have red undertones to my hair.  Yep, haven't colored it since! I am so glad that God joined our hearts and that we both listened and said,...

Expectations of Motherhood

My personality is one that has both a love and hate relationship with a change of plans.  Typically if it works in my favor, I am fine with it, maybe even a little excited. Calling last minute to cancel an across town meeting on a cold, rainy night? I will probably want to hug you as my PJs and I were lusting for a night of hot chocolate and Netflix. However, if you Fail me? Disappoint me? Let me down? forget it.  You're now on my shit-list. You're my husband who says he'll be home at a certain time and then doesn't call, doesn't answer his phone, but later returns three hours late with that dumb look on his face of "what? you needed me?" will result in a long fight and lots of tears. My expectations and "plans" for motherhood have left me in a similar place. When I had to go on  bedrest  and was told there would be a good chance I'd have to be induced.  I cried right there on the spot. That didn't work with my unmedicated, wa...

Rocket Man!

During Thanksgiving week we were blessed to spend lots of time over at my parents house.  All my siblings were in town for the long weekend, and all three baby cousins got to play together, well, as much as a three year old, four month old, and three week old can play together. Eric and I have made every effort to go on a walk every day, even if it's just down the street and back.  While we were at my parents, we'd bundle Evie up and walk around the neighborhood's pond. Saturday was no exception.  This time, our three year old nephew wanted to come with us. He decided he was going to be a "duper here-row" with fire that makes him run really fast. Naturally. And then Connor asked Uncle Eric if he wanted to be a "duper here-row" too.  Of course, you can't say no to a three year old.  Connor taught Eric how to "get gas" and "make the fire come out of his arms" and then they were off and running. ...
